GFirst is working hard to attract high-speed internet service providers to rural Gloucestershire to benefit businesses, individuals and communities.

We are a key partner in the Borders Broadband project. The project has Government funds to attract commercial telecoms suppliers to provide the infrastructure needed for high-speed internet services. It is anticipated work will start next summer, initially in the Forest of Dean and south Herefordshire.

But additional major private sector investment is vital to the success of the project and to roll it out further across rural Gloucestershire.

To persuade the private sector that investment in rural broadband infrastructure is commercially viable, we must demonstrate real demand for high-speed broadband.

The Borders Broadband project is a major opportunity for Gloucestershire to be at the forefront of the UK’s economic recovery. Living and working in an idyllic rural environment while accessing some of the best broadband coverage in the country has the potential to transform Gloucestershire's economy by increasing the productivity of local business and attracting new companies.
