Gloucestershire First secures investment funding and lobbies in support of various project ideas, from business start ups to training support.

Current projects range from the Rural Development Programme England (RDPE) which has supported over 100 rural businesses through to ‘Gloucester Works’ which targets the needs of employers and employees in the City.

The Work Programme

GFirst is working with JHP Employability to provide the Work Programme to Gloucester City residents on Job Seekers Allowance. The Work Programme, a mandatory programme for Jobcentre Plus clients who have been unemployed for over 9-12 months, offers an individualised service to help get clients into employment and keep them working. Next Step offers individuals careers and skills advice to fit your individual needs. Our advisor team helps to build an individual action plan and mentor you through actions to help you achieve your career and skills goals, getting you where you need to be.  This service is particularly helpful to clients who are unemployed or facing redundancy and can help to minimise the stress of this situation.
